Works of Mercy

Saint  Faustina Kowalska and the Divine Mercy

Jesus asks us to be merciful to others. If a soul does not practice mercy with others, then how  can that soul aspire to receive mercy on the day of judgment. In October 1936, Jesus instructed Sister Faustina about this:

“My daughter, if I call people through you the devotion of My Mercy, you must be the first to distinguish yourself in this trust in My Mercy. I demand from you acts of mercy, which must be done for the love of Me. You must show mercy to your neighbor always and everywhere. You should not stop doing this, or excuse yourself, or justify falling short. I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy with your neighbor: the first by deed, the second by word, and the third by prayer. By these means a soul glorifies and pays tribute to My Mercy… because even the strongest faith, without actions has no value. ” (742)
