The Feast of Divine Mercy

Saint  Faustina Kowalska and the Divine Mercy

Among all the forms of devotion to the Divine Mercy revealed to Sister Faustina, this is the one that has the greatest importance. The Lord Jesus spoke for the first time of the establishment of this festival in 1931 when he communicated to the saint his wish:

“I wish there was a Feast of Mercy. I want this image that you will paint with the brush to be blessed solemnly on the first Sunday after Easter. That Sunday should be the Feast of Mercy ”. (49)

The holiday is not only a day of special worship of God in the mystery of mercy, but also the time when God fills all people with grace.

«I wish that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls and, especially, for the poor sinners»  . (699)

«Souls die in spite of My bitter Passion. I offer you the last way to salvation, that is, the feast of My Mercy. If you do not worship My mercy you will die forever» * . (965)

The extraordinary promises that the Lord Jesus linked to the Feast show its greatness.

»  Whoever approaches the Fountain of Life that day will receive total forgiveness for blame and sorrow «. (300)

«That day the depths of My mercy are free. I pour a whole sea of grace on those souls that approach the spring of My mercy; (…) may no soul be afraid to approach Me, even though their sins be shameful «. (699)

In order to receive these great gifts, the conditions of devotion to the Divine Mercy must be met: trusting in God’s goodness and actively loving one’s neighbor, being in the state of sanctifying grace (after confessing) and receiving worthily the Holy Communion

Jesus in You I trust.
